Ohio’s local health departments joined the legalization opposition campaign ahead of the November cannabis vote. “With Ohio’s rates of opiate abuse among the highest in the country, we need to be helping Ohio find solutions to addiction."

Moving on…
New Jersey’s recreational cannabis sales hit $160M in Q2, which was 20% higher than Q1. The state will send $5M of those tax revenues to help support violence prevention programs by community-led organizations and, with the just-announced introduction of NJ home delivery, that number will likely have upside for years to come.
[note: Of the 23 U.S. states where marijuana is legally sold to adults, roughly one-third don't allow residential delivery to recreational customers]
South Dakota’s medical cannabis program shattered projections as they issued more than double the number of medical cannabis cards they projected since the program began two years ago. Not a shocker—what else are you gonna do in South Dakota?—and those two senators will likely come in handy, one day.
In other sector news, local government groups told the California AG that allowing interstate cannabis commerce would not risk federal enforcement: Canadian adult-use cannabis sales jumped 12% in June to C$426M (fourth straight month CAD sales over C$400 million); text messaging provider Twilio cut service to the cannabis industry; Costa Rica lost a battle but not the war on their quest to legalize adult-use canna; we explore how significant the modernization of German cannabis policy is and where the rest of Europe stands on the plan, explore how and why cannabis companies are being taxed unfairly and dive deeper into the efficacious agility of this plant as new indications are uncovered and the wellness theme continues to evolve.
