Recent Thoughts

We fired up the final frame of this five-session stretch, the last before an abbreviated holiday week that’ll celebrate America’s 250th birthday, to find muted optimism, amplified pessimism, and hope that we’ll begin to untangle the two of them shortly.

The ALJ AU hearing will begin Monday and we’ll have an eye on that process despite the fact it’ll take a week-ish to complete with a decision a month-ish later. Then come the lawsuits, which have low, but not zero, odds of having the standing to object.

Also next week: Glass House will trade on the NYSE Tuesday, with perhaps a better reception than Trulieve got, as others (Verano, Vireo, Cura) get ready for the show.

The reemergence of SAFE Banking is also a net positive for two reasons. First, word on the street is that it’s a lay-up with cannabis as Schedule III and two, laws are entirely more durable than administrative directives.

We believe several names have tremendously untapped torque, including Verano, TerrAscend, and Ascend. Others are well-positioned (GTI, TRLV, GLAS) and there are T-1’s in drag (VREO) that’ll need to be added to current and future ETFs over time; and of course, I’m buying Village Farms under $2 every time I find coins in my couch.

I’ll be working remotely next week, which is to say I’ll be keeping an eye on things as I help a friend move. I’ll share relevant tidbits on X-subs as needed but at this point, I’ve made the bed I intend to sleep in, cold pillows and all.
