Digesting an Epic Run for U.S Cannabis

This has been some week.

We set the stage on Sunday with The U.S Cannabis Long Squeeze.

We amplified it in DAYUM! and shared some charts.

And we pretty much jumped up and down on Twitter.

So of course there’s a lot to unpack. There’s the price action in U.S operators.

There’s the GW Pharma takeover, and what that means for the space.

And there’s digesting the world around us.

“My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives,” said a wise man once, so let’s dive right in.

$GWPH was a top-five holding but it was more than that; this was my baby, my purpose; my muse. The north star of cannabis 3.0. In a league of her own.

For all the head-fakes, false-starts and illogical air-pockets, I always thought this was The Amazon of Cannabis and I wasn’t shy about sharing that view.

G-dubs got lifted for ~$220 a few days ago which tbh is about half of what I thought she’s worth, but a wins a win. My grandfather once told me that if the dealer puts chips in front of you, take them; so we took them. Thanks grandpa. R.P

We did a few things with those funds:

1. we sprinkled some right-sized seeds across the 3.0 farm system.

2. we edged ourU.S cannabis "FAANG" allocations higher.

3. we left a GW trailer + May $250 fliers lest there’s a higher bid.

4. squirreled dry powder for new deals (Verano etc).

And hey, no sure that’s right, but that’s what we did.

So who is zis FAANG we speak of?

In no particular order:

The Cresco Kid / Charlie & the Cannabis Factory (can’t decide)

“how can you put TerrAscend in the FAANG?”…

And I’m no bandwagon. You’ll get to know that about me. Early to a fault, allergic to conventional wisdom and loyal af / a friend for life til ya cross me.

But JW’s got the Mott’s. I knew it then, I know it now and if I knew how to superimpose this against that, you’d see a sub-$2 entry. TYVM them.

I forgot what I was saying but so you know I started this mid-morning and while some will grouse it’s late already ( @WallStUnicorn), I’ll take small comfort in knowing it’s still in fact Friday and this won’t massively dilute this fledgling editorial effort.

Random Thoughts:

• Does Substack have spell-check? Asking for a psycho.
  

• The last three years written in real-time, warts and all.
  

• Spoiler Alert: The BLS will soon start counting U.S cannabis, as they should. Expect a one-time pop to ~350,000 and then a steady climb to seven-figures.
  

• With GW off the board / research coming into focus, they will now look for efficacy—and they’ll find it.

  

• And oh yeah (yawns). The South Has Fallen. Yipee Kiya Martha Fokker.

  

  

• How can I be at the data limit substack? Is this thing is rigged?
